Retreat – I had my annual retreat time at St Michael’s Abbey, Farnborough during the first week of September. As usual it has given me a good, prayerful foundation to prepare for the coming year’s youth work.

Snowdonia – As part of my work with year 6 at St Francis school I accompanied them to Plas Gwynant in Wales. The young people did canoeing, mountain climbing, abseiling and orienteering to name just a few activities. An enjoyable week was had by all although illness took its toll on one or two of us! The hard work of getting to know everyone should bear fruit in the weekly transition work I’ll be doing in school this term. (more…)

St Francis. A good name to have for your patron saint. One lady in our church was brought up at St Chrysostom’s in Handsworth. She said no-one could pronounce the name, so they used to call the church St Chrysanthemums. (more…)
