Youth Round-up: Feb 2010

Talent Show – Please start thinking about performing a piece for our Talent Show, which will be hosted by the young people of FAITH and FAITHFUL on Saturday 24th of April from 7.30pm. Everyone is invited to ‘do a turn’! Slots are limited to 5mins and you will need to reserve your place early. Application forms from Paul at the parish office, or email youth@stfranciscentre.co.uk.

New Youth Worker for Christ Church – I recently met Ellen Eagling for the first time – the new youth worker at Christ Church, Selly Park. She comes with much youth work experience, having trained and worked for the past few years in the United States, although she originally comes from Suffolk. Pictures and an audio interview from her first Sunday in post can be seen on Christ Church’s website now.

Taize Service – Our older young people’s group, FAITHFUL, united with the Taize service at the end of January to offer hospitality to those who attended from the B30 churches. Young people served refreshments to about 40 people after the service and were grateful to those who took the time to come and see what they got up to on a Sunday evening. If you know of anyone who is interested in our group for school years 10 and above, please contact Paul at the parish office.

Goodbye to Jody – It is with sadness that we bid farewell to Jody Clarke, our social work student placement who has been helping with the youth work, amongst many other things, over the past term and a half. Jody brought great experience and professionalism to the work and helped the young people look at issues such as bullying. She goes with our prayers and best wishes for the future.

Thank you – I’d like to communicate a personal message of thanks to all those who offered prayers and condolences following the death of my grandfather, Harold Northam, last month and whose funeral was at Yardley Crematorium on Friday 29th January.

Please Pray For…

  • Our young people as we approach Lent
  • The work at Bournville Secondary School
  • Jody Clarke, as she continues her studies at Birmingham University

Paul.
