Slum Survivor

slum-poster.jpgOn Saturday 6th June you may have noticed a number of crudely assembled shelters in the St Francis Centre car park. This was Slum Survivor! Young people from three local churches (including St Francis) gathered together to “spend 24hrs, the way one billion spend a lifetime” and raise money for people living in slums around the world. As well as roughing it out overnight we had to find the most useful piece of rubbish and collect our water from a local brook! It was an eye-opening experience for young and old – over £100 was donated by passers-by and we even got a mention in the Mail (see notice board at the back of church). Thanks to all who supported us and came to visit on the day.
