Youth Round-up: January 2012

I pray that you had a happy and holy Christmas!

Fencing  – As part of our FAITHFUL programme of events in December we put on an evening of Fencing run by Professor Peter Northam (yep, that’s my dad). You can find some pictures on the blog. Everyone learned how to handle a weapon and some even had a go at ‘electric’ fencing – which records hits automatically – an example of which can be seen during the London Olympics next year.

Christmas Banners – We hope you liked the three Nativity banners that we put up in the cloisters this Christmas. You will see Bethlehem and the crib, the Shepherds and the Wise Men brought to life using different textured and coloured fabric. Hard work was done by the young people of FAITH and especially Mandy Nayak and Michelle Long. Thank you to them all!

Wednesday Night Youth Club – In the New Year we will be beginning a project for young people in years 6-8 from local schools, using music, drama and video to develop skills and build friendships with the hope that everyone will take away something inspirational for the future. Please pray for the success of this venture. Speak to me if you would like to know more!

FAITH and FAITHFUL Restart – Our groups for young people start again on Sunday 8th January at the usual times. As you may be aware, I will be on paternity leave due to the birth of our baby, but should return w/c 16th January. Please note that our Wednesday night club restarts on 18th of January – with our project kicking off on the following week (25th).
