Youth Round-up: Nov 2011
Reasonable Faith – In recent weeks an American Christian apologist called Dr William Lane Craig has been touring England giving philosophical and rational arguments for faith at numerous debates and lectures. He is particularly well known for his Kalaam Cosmological Argument and his critique of Richard Dawkins book The God Delusion. I saw him debate at Birmingham University at the end of October. Wednesday Night Youth Club… – Over the past half term I have been preparing to start a youth club for young people aged 10-13 on Wed nights from 7 - 8.30pm. I have 8 volunteers (2 adults and 6 young leaders) and the club will comprise of drop-in and activity based work serving young people in Bournville. Please pray for the success of our group.
…can you help? – I am currently awaiting CRB checks for our two adult helpers, which means that we may have to delay the start of the club. Could I ask anyone who has an enhanced CRB disclosure if they would like to help staff the group with me for the short term until our other adult helpers are cleared? Some Northam Family News – On 23rd October Joanne and I made promises as Oblates (lay members) of St Mary’s Abbey, Colwich, Staffs - it was a joyful event for us both! What it means for us is that we commit ourselves to daily prayer (Divine Office), lectio divina (holy reading), reading/living the Rule of St Benedict each day, attending church as much as possible and practicing Christian charity as our state of life dictates. We are finding this a great support to our family life, especially as we are expecting our fourth child around Christmas time.
